A Pre-Dawn Dance Broke Out In Atlantic Home After Learning Of Lottery Prize Win

An Atlantic man says he and his wife danced in their kitchen at 4:30 in the morning after realizing he had won Lucky for Life’s $25,000 a year for life prize. “She started shaking and then she started dancing around the kitchen,” said 62-year-old Delbert Littleton. “We gave each other a big hug and then the first thing she said was, ‘We’ve got to get to the safety deposit box and get this ticket locked up.’” Littleton works in the environmental services department at an assisted living facility and he is Iowa’s ninth prize winner in the Lucky for Life game that debuted in January of 2016. The couple weighed the option of taking the $25,000 per year annuity payments for life or the lump sum pre-tax amount of $390,000. Littleton said to his wife, “Well I don’t know if I’m going to be here in another month. Nobody does. I have no clue what’s going to happen. So let’s take the lump sum. Let’s go ahead and do what we’re going to do with it and enjoy it right away.” The couple plans on buying a new house, new vehicles and then saving the rest for retirement. After federal and state taxes the Littleton’s were able to collect $276,900 from the Iowa Lottery office in Clive on Wednesday.
