Glidden City Council Approves $6.8 Million Budget For FY 2020

The Glidden City Council has voted to approve their proposed budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2020. According to City Clerk, Suzy Danner, officials did not receive any comments from the public during a scheduled hearing Monday night. The budget estimates revenues of $6.83 million and expenditures of $7.1 million, which equated to a $270,000 deficit. When compared to previous years, the FY 2020 budget is more than double the size of the community’s average over the past several years. Danner says this is largely due to an unusually large $3.8 million sewer budget to fund the city’s lagoon project. For the first time in three years, Glidden’s property tax levy increasing. It is projected to be $11.11 per $1,000 of taxable valuation. The city council unanimously voted in favor of  adopting the proposed document and will proceed to file it with the Carroll County Auditor’s Office and the Iowa Department of Management.
