Effort To Refinance Sac City Utilities Shows Success As Officials Prepare For FY 2020 Budget Hearing

For the second year in a row, Sac City officials are projecting their revenues will exceed expenditures in the upcoming fiscal year. The proposed budget, as it stands right now, estimates the city will bring in approximately $4.8 million in Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 and spend around $4.7 million. Both revenues and expenditures are higher than the published FY 2019 budget, largely due to improvement projects within the community and efforts to overhaul several of the city’s utility departments. Administrator, Jamie Lawrence, says those efforts have paid off.

In FY 2018, expenditures slightly outpaced revenues. Lawrence says they have made a concerted effort in the last several years to balance the budget.

Lawrence says it is good to see continued growth in their savings, but he believes there is still room for improvement.

The city council has scheduled a public hearing on the FY 2020 budget for March 12. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at the Sac City Municipal Utility Building.
