Trial Information Filed Against Perry Woman Found Driving Stolen Vehicle In Coon Rapids

The Carroll County Attorney’s Office filed trial information Wednesday against a Perry woman, who is accused of stealing a vehicle from Guernsey. According to court records, 25-year-old Delaney Moriah Spencer faces one count of second-degree theft, a class D felony. The charge stems from an incident on Dec. 8 in Coon Rapids. Deputies with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office investigated a suspicious 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer parked outside the Dollar General and waited for Spencer to return to the stolen vehicle. After being taken into custody, she admitted to authorities that she knew the vehicle was stolen by her ex-boyfriend in November, but she claims she only took it to get out of an abusive relationship. An arraignment hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 27 at the Carroll County Courthouse. Spencer faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and $7,500 in fines if found guilty of the charge.
