Two Minnesota Men Were Transported To SARH After Two-Vehicle Accident Near Carroll

Two Minnesota residents were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital on Sunday afternoon for treatment of injuries received in a two-vehicle accident. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on U.S. Highway 71, just north of 260th Street, south of Carroll at approximately 1:47 p.m. Fifty-four-year-old Ronald Kraig Ruport of Mantorville, Minn. was driving northbound on Highway 71 in a 2004 Ford F150, towing a bumper-hitched camper. He came upon a southbound 2012 Chrysler 200, driven by 40-year-old Kip Anthony Hays of Coon Rapids, that was in the wrong lane of traffic. Hays struck the side of the F150 as well as the side of the camper, causing the camper to overturn. Both Ruport and his passenger, 67-year-old Paul Glenn Larsen of Dodge Center, Minn., were transported to St. Anthony for treatment of possible injuries by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services. Hays and his passenger, 15-year-old Jade Marie Hays, also of Coon Rapids, complained of possible injuries but were not transported from the scene. There was an estimated $28,000 damage to the Ruport truck and camper and $13,000 to the Chrysler. Hays has been cited for driving on the wrong side of a two-way highway.
