Pella Corp. And Carroll County Solid Waste Host Free Electronic Recycling Day Sept. 16

Carroll County Solid Waste and Pella Corporation are hosting their free electronic recycling day for the fourth consecutive year next week. On Saturday, Sept. 16, consumers can take their worn-out, obsolete or broken devices, to the southwest loading dock at the Pella facility from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Highway 30 East in Carroll. Nearly all electronic devices can be turned in, such as computer equipment, televisions, printers, cell phone and video game consoles. Appliances will not be accepted during the event. There is no charge to recycle your electronic waste during the event, but they will be accepting donations this year to benefit Kellan’s Kingdom, an effort to build the area’s first all-inclusive park in Carroll. Since the program began in 2014, over 114,000 pounds of e-waste has been collected by Pella Corporation and Carroll County Solid Waste. Thrown-away electronics account for about 40 percent of the lead and 75 percent of the heavy metals found in our nation’s landfills.
