Lake City Lift Station Up And Running Again After Mechanical Failure Five Months Ago

Lake City’s lift station is operational again after the facility experienced a mechanical failure last November. The city needed to rent a pump for several months and purchase some costly replacements to make repairs to the station. The Iowa Communities Assurance Pool (ICAP), the city’s insurance provider, was not committed to covering the expenses. City Administrator, Eric Wood, says they finally received confirmation of ICAP’s intentions.

The total estimated cost of the repairs and rentals totaled approximately $125,000. Wood says the city would have had some issues managing those unexpected expenses.

Residents will not see an increase to their water bills thanks to the city’s insurance coverage. The wastewater system in the city is now back to pre-failure operation.
