Inspirational Trainer Helping Others Leave a Positive Legacy In St. Anthony Presentation

The founder of the nonprofit organization Train to Inspire, Joe Hogan, was working as a carpenter apprentice and a personal trainer in the Des Moines area when a client walked into his gym and changed his life. Dave Mathis, who suffers from a chromosome disorder called Noonan Syndrome, shared with his personal trainer the fact that he had run in 5ks and half marathons, but he had to be pushed in his wheelchair. Hogan asked Mathis if he was willing to work toward running his own 5k, to which he immediately agreed. This opened Hogan’s eyes to his ability to change the lives of others. Each month, he began organizing group activities, and paid for them out of his own pocket. Soon, the nonprofit, Train to Inspire, was started and funding was established to give Hogan the opportunity to assist people with disabilities, addicts, orphaned children and women who have been impacted by domestic violence. Hogan will join Tracy Keninger, who has a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling for two special programs titled “An Impossible Reality,” in the St. Francis Room at St. Anthony Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 4. Each 90-minute session will teach attendees how they too can change their world and leave a lasting legacy that positively impacts others. The free sessions begin at 10 a.m. and 1 pm. on April 4, and reservations are required by Monday, April 3. RSVPs can be made to Kristin at Homecare Options by using the contact methods included with this story on our website.
