ICA Holding Feedlot Forums in Sioux Center And Carroll This Month

The Iowa Cattlemen’s Association (ICA) is working to help producers with farm management, particularly in the face of profitability challenges, and will be hosting two educational events in western Iowa this month that incorporate risk management strategies. In partnership with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, the first Feedlot Forum will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, in Sioux Center. The topics covered include the Veterinary Feed Directive, feedlot assessments, market volatility, market prices and industry updates. Cost to attend the Sioux Center forum is $25 per person or $10 for students and includes dinner and a $10 beef certificate. The registration deadline is Thursday, Jan. 12 and can be completed through the contact information provided with this story on our website. The second Feedlot Forum will be held the next day, Wednesday, Jan. 18, in Carroll. This free event will cover topics that are timely and important to the future success of Iowa’s feedlot producers, including market volatility, prices, changes to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manure rules and the Iowa beef checkoff.
