Denison Announces Open Burning Period Begins Nov. 4

The City of Denison has announced the dates for citizens to commence open burning of yard waste. The nine-day period starts this weekend on Saturday, Nov. 4 and runs through Sunday, Nov. 12. Under the open burning rules, all burning must take place between sunrise and sunset and cannot take place on any public sidewalk, curb or street. The city recommends several methods to avoid issues while disposing waste. Clear the burn site of all flammable materials before starting and do not use gasoline, kerosene or other flammable liquids to initiate a burn. Avoid burning on windy days to prevent a fire from spreading and be prepared with water and hand tools to put out any flare-ups. Only yard waste, such as sticks, twigs, leaves and weeds are permitted. Garbage and treated woods are not allowed. The city reminds citizens there is a depot on South Main Street for people to dispose of yard waste without burning it.
