A Carroll man accused of slashing the tires of a vehicle parked at the Burke Inn Motel and Suites has been sentenced to 30 days jail time. On Friday, 28-year-old Desmond Tyrone Edwards Jr. reached a plea deal with the court. In the agreement, Edwards pled guilty to fifth degree criminal mischief, a simple misdemeanor, and was ordered to pay $65 in fines, court costs, a $125 law enforcement surcharge and $230 in restitution to the victim. Of his 30-day jail sentence, all but four days have been suspended pending completion of a one-year probation. Edwards was originally charged with fifth degree theft, a simple misdemeanor.
