The History of Hershey Chocolate

September 13, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Have you ever wondered about the history of chocolate – or rather Hershey Chocolate?
Come in and listen to this fascinating program presented by Laura F. Keyes.

Today the name Hershey is synonymous with quality milk chocolate. But that wasn’t always the case. Milton S. Hershey worked hard and failed often before his chocolate company was finally successful. And when he did become a household name and had earned a vast fortune, Milton and his wife Catherine decided to give it all away. Because of their generosity, tens of thousands of orphans have been saved, protected, and educated. Attend this illustrated lecture to hear the “behind the scenes” story of this beloved American company.

Laura Keyes graduated from UW-Madison with a Master’s Degree in Library Studies, and has been presenting on historic topics for over ten years. She enjoys researching literary symbolism, and is contracted to write a book on that subject. Laura Keyes is currently the Director of the Dunlap Public Library District in Dunlap, IL.

If you can’t make this program Laura will be at the following libraries:
9/10 – Evening at Grand Junction
9/11 at Churdan
9/13 at Harlan
