Storm Lake Woman In Custody After Stabbing Her Estranged Boyfriend

A Storm Lake woman is in custody after stabbing a man in the stomach during a domestic altercation. The Storm Lake Police responded to the scene at approximately 11:12 p.m. Thursday night. Upon arrival, they located a 39-year-old male victim in the parking lot. He told authorities he was confronted by his estranged girlfriend, 48-year-old Sharron Thomas, in the lot and an argument ensued. The victim related that Thomas grabbed the man’s phone and threw it to the ground, smashing it, then stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife. She then attempted to stab him again, but he was able to evade that attempt, at which time Thomas fled on foot. Paramedics with Buena Vista County Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to the scene and transported the victim, who was conscious and alert, to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center for treatment. While officers were still on scene, Thomas was seen walking back towards the apartment complex and was taken into custody without incident. She is being held at the Buena Vista County jail on an $11,600 cash bond and charged with willful injury and going armed with intent, both class D felonies, assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor, and fifth-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, both simple misdemeanors.
