An estimated 5,250 Hormel Cure 81 hams will be distributed in 19 Midwestern cities over the course of the next two weeks as a part of the second annual Hams for the Holidays giveaway. Hy-Vee, Inc. has partnered with Hormel Foods and the first responders in these communities to provide the hams to families in need throughout Hy-Vee’s eight-state service region. “We are fortunate to have great partners to help us give back to the community during the holiday season,” says Randy Edeker, chairman of the board, CEO and President of Hy-Vee. “Last year’s events were incredibly successful, and we are excited to expand our efforts this year to reach even more families in the communities that we serve. By working with our valued supplier Hormel and first responders, we can make a far greater impact than any one of us could alone,” Edeker adds. This coming Saturday, Dec. 15, three local Hy-Vee stores will be distributing the hams. The Jefferson event will begin at 2 p.m. with Carroll at 4:30 p.m. and Denison at 7 p.m. Each event will last for two hours or until all hams are given away, whichever comes first.
