St. Anthony Regional Hospital (SARH) hosted a grand opening event Sunday afternoon for Garden View, their recently completed assisted-living facility in Carroll. St. Anthony Senior Services Director, Barb Corey, says Garden View aims to fill the service gap for seniors that still want to maintain a large portion of their independence.
The two-story, $10 million facility features four two-bedroom, two-bath units, one two-bedroom, one bath apartment and 31 one-bedroom units. Amenities at Garden View include restaurant-style dining, fitness center, clinic, Chapel, library and much more. Corey says there is a lot for residents to enjoy, but she expects the favorite for many will be the garden’s outdoor grotto. She adds that feature was funded through gifts from SARH employees.
A dedication ceremony for the grotto is planned for later this summer. Gov. Kim Reynolds attended Garden View’s groundbreaking event in September of 2016 and was in attendance for the grand opening as well. Reynolds says, “Investing in housing needs is essential for Iowa communities and contributes to their economic success and livelihood and the happiness and well-being of their residents.” She adds it is exciting to see organization like St. Anthony take it upon themselves to plan for the future of the individuals they serve. Garden View will accept its first tenants on July 9, and Corey wants potential residents to know the facility still has space available.
After July 9, Garden View will be moving in a maximum of three tenants per week until they have filled the facility. Corey believes this will provide the staff and residents to get to know one another and adjust to each individual’s needs.
