Minor Accident Is Reminder To Eliminate Distractions While Driving

Although the damage was minimal, another local accident has resulted from distracted driving. At approximately 5:24 p.m. Wednesday evening, Randall Lore of West Des Moines was driving westbound in the 200 block of West Central Street in Jefferson. Another driver, Rhonda Rubens of Jefferson, was stopped at the intersection with North Elm Street, but Lore was on his cell phone and rear-ended the Rubens vehicle. No injuries were reported and there was only an estimated $500 in damages to each vehicle, but Lore was cited for failure to maintain control. This incident acts as a reminder that it only takes a split second for an accident to occur, and drivers should do their best to eliminate all types of distractions.
