The Carroll Police Department arrested a teenager over the weekend after he allegedly fired a pistol into a public park. At approximately 7:58 p.m. on Saturday, the Carroll Communications Center received a report of a subject with a firearm in Minchen Park. Officers quickly responded to the scene and located a 13-year-old male with a Sig Sauer P238 pistol. The investigation by authorities found the juvenile had taken the handgun from his grandfather’s safe and had fired a single round from the 900 block of Salinger Avenue across the street into the ground. No injuries were reported, and officers took the juvenile into custody without incident. The juvenile was booked on charges of reckless use of a firearm, an aggravated misdemeanor, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a minor, a serious misdemeanor. The teen was transferred into the custody of a juvenile detention center, and the charges have been forwarded to the juvenile courts for processing.
