The VVMF Looking For Local Vietnam Veterans To Honor At The Wall That Heals In Manning This Summer

Iowa Vietnam Veterans have a chance to be honored this summer on the traveling exhibit with The Wall That Heals in Manning. From July 23 through the 26th, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall will be set up at the IKM-Manning High School for tours, a chance to honor those who served and learn more on the impact of the war on the United States. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) believe that all should be honored and remembered for their service and offer this opportunity for any Iowa Vietnam Veteran that has passed to have their photo and names displayed with the “In Memory” program with the Education Center exhibit with the Wall That Heals. Co-Chair for the organizing committee, Jean Voege says “We want to honor as many Vietnam veterans from Iowa as possible. If your loved one served in Vietnam, returned home and later died – we want to be able to proudly display their name and photo in our community. We’re asking for the public’s help to identify eligible veterans and get their applications into VVMF so their veteran can be on display in Manning.” An application can be found online using the link included below.. Applications must also have the veteran’s DD214 showing proof of service, copy of death certificate and two photographs. Aside from no cost associated with the process, an online personal remembrance page will be created on the VVMF official website, the family will receive an invitation to the “In Memory” weekend in Washington, D.C and a printed tribute certificate with the veteran’s photo. Applications must be submitted to the VVMF by March 29. Additional information on the Wall That Heals coming to Manning can be found on the official website, www.thewallthathealsmanning2026.com
