Carroll Man Charged With OWI After Leaving The Scene Of Wednesday Morning Crash

A Carroll man has been charged with operating while intoxicated after leaving the scene of an accident in Carroll early Wednesday morning. According to affidavits filed in Carroll County District Court by the Carroll Police Department, 18-year-old Kayden Ross Vought was booked into the Carroll County Jail on the misdemeanor counts and released after appearing before a magistrate. Authorities allege Vought was operating a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse at approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday near 18th and Adams Streets and struck a legally parked 2012 Dodge Ram pickup so hard that it rolled nearly 200 yards after impact. Police say Vought then abandoned his vehicle and walked several blocks to his home after the incident. When law enforcement contacted the driver later that morning, police say Vought still appeared to be inebriated and failed a field sobriety test. A follow-up preliminary breath test found a blood alcohol content of 0.157 percent, nearly twice the legal limit. Damage to the Traverse is estimated at $10,000, totaling it, while damage to the truck was around $2,000. No significant injuries were reported in the crash.
