Former Carroll County Paramedic Pleads Guilty To Federal Charge For Tampering With Fentanyl Container

A former Carroll County paramedic pleads guilty to a federal charge for tampering with a fentanyl container. It was back in March that 53-year-old Teresa Marie Johnson of Manilla was served with an order to appear in Carroll County District Court where she was alleged to unlawfully obtain fentanyl while working as a critical care paramedic for Carroll County between October 2024 and February 2025. The charges out of Carroll County District Court have been dropped, as she was facing two federal charges out of the Northern District of Iowa for tampering or attempting to tamper with a consumer product, and acquiring or attempting to acquire a controlled substance by deception and subterfuge. She entered into a plea agreement in September, pleading guilty to count one for tampering with the fentanyl container by removing the label. A sentencing hearing is awaiting to be scheduled. The charge carries a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison, along with fines and the forfeiting of her paramedic licensing.
