Three Audubon County Teens Found Guilty Of Forcible Sexual Abuse Charges

Three juvenile males from Audubon County have been adjudicated delinquent on forcible felony charges of sexual abuse of a minor girl. According to Audubon County District Court records, 17-year-old Zackary Schmidt, 15-year-old Eythan Schmidt, and 14-year-old Nicholas Clark were found guilty in juvenile court last week for touching and forcing sexual acts with an approximately nine-year-old girl on multiple occasions between the summer of 2023 and December of 2024 at different residences throughout Audubon County. E. Schmidt was adjudicated on two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, class B felonies, and two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, aggravated misdemeanors. Z. Schmidt was found guilty of one count of second-degree sexual abuse, and Clark was found guilty of two counts of second-degree sexual abuse. A delinquency disposition hearing will be held on Jan. 9 at the Audubon County Courthouse. Under Iowa law, juvenile records are generally kept sealed, even after adjudication; however, because of the nature of the offenses and their classification as forcible felonies, these court records have become public records.
