Sac City Chamber Celebrating Over 50 Years With Annual Porktoberfest Event This Thursday

The Sac City Chamber is welcoming all to downtown Sac City Thursday evening to celebrate the annual Porktoberfest event. For over the last 50 years, Porktoberfest has been a staple community gathering in Sac City each year on the first Thursday of October. Sac City Chamber Director Crystal Hanrahan says she is unclear about why the organizers went with the pork-themed event, but knows it was a way the chamber was trying to promote supporting local businesses and thanking the customers who did.

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday evening, Hanrahan says there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Hanrahan says the two crowd favorite contests will be also happening Thursday night as well.

All proceeds from the Kiss the Pig event will go back to the chamber to offset the cost of the live band, and other expenses as this event is entirely free for everyone to enjoy. Hanrahan says she is so thankful for all the sponsors, volunteers and community members who continuously step up and support the chamber and similar events like this.

Again, Hanrahan encourages all to come celebrate Porktoberfest with a meal, games and activities, getting a free family picture by Studio 51 in Cattail Cove, plus more this Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in downtown Sac City.
