A Carroll County Sheriff’s Office vehicle is out of commission and a juvenile in custody following a pursuit Wednesday evening. According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was attempting to make a traffic stop for a speeding violation on U.S. Highway 71, around 120th Street at approximately 11:30 p.m Wednesday. The male juvenile pulled the truck over, but took off in the vehicle when the deputy approached. A chase ensued north on Highway 71 into Auburn, where the juvenile stopped abruptly to make a turn into an alleyway, with the deputy’s vehicle making contact with the rear of the pickup, resulting in damage to the patrol car. The pursuit continued west for a short time until the sheriff deputy used legal intervention to stop the chase. The juvenile then fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later and transported to a detention center on various charges out of Sac County. No injuries were reported. During the initial investigation, it was discovered that the pickup the juvenile was driving had been reported stolen. The Sac County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation.
