Regional Unemployment Up 0.6% Compared To 2024 In July Report

The latest figures from Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) show unemployment rates across the listening area increased from June to July. According to the data released this (Tuesday) morning, Carroll County recorded the lowest unemployment rate in the region last month at 2.8 percent, 0.2 percentage points higher than in June and 0.4 points higher than a year ago. Audubon County came in at 3.2 percent for July, a 0.3-point increase, and 0.6 points higher than July 2024. Calhoun County’s unemployment rose to 3.8 percent in July from 3.5 percent in June and stands 0.8 points higher than last year’s figures. Sac County recorded a 0.3-point increase to 3.8 percent, compared to 3.4 percent in 2024. Guthrie County recorded the largest year-over-year increase for the region, rising from 2.9 percent in 2024 to 3.9 percent in July 2025. Crawford County’s unemployment grew by 0.2 points to 4.7 percent, compared to 4.1 percent last year. Greene County recorded the highest unemployment rate for the region in July, at 4.9 percent, only 0.1 points higher than last month, but 0.7 points higher than the previous year. The average unemployment rate for the seven-county region in July was 3.9 percent, compared to Iowa’s 3.7 percent and the U.S.’s 4.2 percent.
