A Galva woman has been sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison for her role in distributing a significant volume of fentanyl across Iowa and Nebraska, including pills linked to a fatal overdose. According to court records for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa, 25-year-old Braleigh Schossow, pled guilty in February to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. At her July 10 sentencing, she admitted to distributing at least 100,000 counterfeit pills containing fentanyl between December 2020 and February 2024. Federal prosecutors said Schossow obtained the pills from sources in Minnesota and distributed them across the region. In 2022, the pills she distributed were linked to an overdose death. A 2023 search of her Fort Dodge residence at the time uncovered more than 7,000 fentanyl pills, cocaine, $72,000 in cash, and a loaded handgun. Schossow was sentenced to 141 months in prison and five years of supervised release. She remains in U.S. Marshals custody pending transfer to a federal prison.
