Everyone is encouraged to “fast-track” down to Coon Rapids next week for the 2025 Carroll County Fair. The fair runs from Monday evening until Sunday, July 13, with six days filled with fun for all ages. Fair Board Member Dan Behrens says the theme for this year is “Racing to the Fair,” which has a dual meaning behind it.
The total purse for the racing weekend will be up to $20,000, divided among all the winners across both days. Something new is that the fair queen will be crowned tonight (Saturday) before the fair, allowing attendees to interact with the winner throughout the entire fair. Behrens says another popular event he would like to promote is the Bacon Buddies program, which takes place on Wednesday night, in partnership with the Iowa Pork Producers and Special Olympics Iowa.
For a $10 admission fee, all attendees will be able to explore the animal buildings and activities throughout the fair. The only additional costs will be for food from the many vendors and tickets for the carnival rides. Behrens says a new event will be taking the place of the old mud volleyball tournament.
If you are interested in registering for the bag tournament, contact any board member to sign up. Behrens says the popular 5K run/walk, live music, and parade are scheduled as usual. He does encourage everyone to come back after the fair on Monday, July 14, to see the fair’s Bonus Auction.
