The 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County recently presented a $14,700 check to the Friends of the Jamaica Library in their second donation of 2025. The organization was selected after presentations from three groups. The donation includes individual member contributions, as well as any employer matches. Founded in 2024, the Friends of the Jamaica Library supports the nearly 80-year-old library, which has also been home to the Guthrie County Genealogical Society for more than 40 years. The group aims to expand services and enhance technology that falls outside the library’s regular budget. Carla Hilgenberg, a Friends of the Library board member, says, “The Library Board, Library Director Laurie Carnahan, and the Friends of the Jamaica Library are beyond excited and thankful. With this wonderful gift, we’ll be able to help the library upgrade its technology and increase programs and services. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.” Since 2017, the 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County has donated over $400,000 to local organizations, projects, and causes. Individuals interested in joining the group can visit their Facebook page or email 10squaredgc@gmail.com.
