Flags Ordered To Half-Staff For Late Iowa Senator Rocky De Witt

Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on Thursday in honor and remembrance of Iowa Senator Rocky De Witt. Witt was a long serving employee for MidAmerican Energy before joining the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy. In 2016, he was elected to serve as board chair for the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors, then as the Iowa Senate representative for District 1 in 2022. Witt announced last year of his pancreatic cancer diagnosis and passed away on June 25. Flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset in his honor on the State Capitol Building, flag displays in the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties, and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect.
