“Concerned Iowans” Plan July 4 Protest In Carroll

The group “Concerned Iowans” has announced they will be hosting another protest in Carroll to coincide with Independence Day. Organizers say the event is being held in conjunction with nationwide demonstrations planned for the Fourth of July, with an emphasis on “liberty, justice, and democracy.” Participants will gather at the Carroll Public Library at 9:45 a.m. on Friday. At 10 a.m., the protesters will march to the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Carroll Street, where the demonstration will take place until 11 a.m. Protests by the same group were hosted on April 5, May 3, and June 14 in Carroll. One of the organizers, Karen Nieland, says, “July 4th is about the freedom to speak out and demand better. Patriotism includes accountability for all.” In addition to the roadside rally, attendees are encouraged to bring school supplies, which will be collected and donated to local students.
