Data from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa show that fuel prices briefly spiked after tensions turned to conflict in the Middle East, but the markets quickly returned to their previous levels. As of Wednesday, June 25, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $3.03, down three cents from last week and 28 cents below prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday trended the other direction, rising four cents to $3.23 per gallon. Iowa retail diesel prices also climbed 12 cents to a statewide average of $3.60, nine cents higher than in June 2024. Local prices remain 12 cents below the national average of $3.72. At the Des Moines Terminal, the prices for renewables were as follows: E10 was $1.92, Unleaded 87 was $2.28, ULSD #2 was $2.35, ULSD #1 was $2.59, and E70 was $1.84 per gallon. Natural gas prices at the Henery Hub reporting site were down 35 cents to $3.61 per MMBtu.
