UPDATE: Four Injured, One Airlifted In Monday Crash Near Dedham

Four people were injured Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle, head-on collision near Dedham. According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 2:59 p.m. on 320th Street, about a mile southeast of town. Authorities say a 2019 Jeep Wrangler, operated by 27-year-old Danyel Janetta Griffith of Coon Rapids, was traveling eastbound on 320th and had started to slow down due to low visibility from gravel dust thrown up by a passing vehicle. At that same time, a westbound 2002 Ford Ranger, driven by 20-year-old Robert Duane Dykes of Coon Rapids, collided with the Jeep, with the truck coming to rest on its roof in the north ditch while the Jeep came to rest upright in the south ditch. Dykes sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was airlifted to a Des Moines Hospital for treatment. His passenger, 18-year-old Jeffrey Wesley Lewis of Coon Rapids, as well as Griffith and his passenger, 30-year-old Andrew Jayson Holmes of Lake View, were transported by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for treatment.
