CCSD Board Of Education Approves New Transportation Guidelines And More At Thursday Night’s Meeting

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education reviewed policy revisions, approved new transportation guidelines, and more during Thursday night’s meeting. Board member Jill Johnston started the meeting off by sharing her takeaways from the Iowa Association of School Board’s (IASB’s) Student Summit and shared ideas that she would like to see implemented in the district. Board members reviewed policy changes regarding personal devices during the school day, which schools are now required to create due to new state legislation. Annual agreements for Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) for credit recovery, Buena Vista University (BVU) for student teaching, and Manson Northwest Webster for TRIVE Academy. Board member Jim Friel asked about the cost analysis for the THRIVE Academy and if it was beneficial for the students it serves. A discussion was had on options the district could pursue for similar services, but ultimately decided to renew the THRIVE agreement. New for next year, the transportation department will only be serving students outside a two-mile radius of that student’s respective academic center. Board members approved an agreement with Simbli for an online program to organize the board’s meetings and policy documents for $8,100, projects for parking lot maintenance at Adams Elementary for $16,800, installation of a fence at Fairview Elementary for $6,844 and 32 new staff computers for $30,668. Board members also approved a 28E agreement for Storm Protection Fund, which covers the difference to meet the district’s property insurance deductible when filing a claim. They also reviewed insurance premiums for Fiscal Year 2026. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more on these topics in upcoming newscasts.
