The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) welcomes Joe Blazevich as Carroll High School’s new principal for this upcoming school year. Blazevich has served as the high school principal for Clarke Community School District in Osceola for the past two years but says he is ready for the next step with a leadership position at CCSD. He attended high school, growing up around the Omaha, Neb. area, and says while education was not a part of the plan, someone influential from his high school days brought the idea into the light.
After graduating college, he started his education career as a social science teacher before accepting an assistant high school principal and athletic director position for a Catholic high school in Omaha, Neb. Eight years later, Blazevich had the opportunity to move to the Des Moines area to serve as the district athletic director for Des Moines Public Schools and then the Assistant Principal for Urbandale Middle School. He believes that all the skills and knowledge he has gained over the years, with his educational experiences, will continue to promote success for CCSD.
Blazevich says he saw a hunger among the teachers on the hiring committee, wanting to be challenged and be the best they can be for students at CHS. He says he is grateful they are taking this chance on him and is ready to get to work.
Blazevich will begin serving as CHS Principal on July 1. He looks forward to meeting the rest of the staff, students, and community members at district events and encourages everyone to reach out to him with questions or concerns so that they can collaborate to provide the best educational experience for CCSD students.
