A Sac County man was sentenced to up to 25 years in prison yesterday (Monday) following his conviction in District Court for sexually abusing a 10-year-old child. Twenty-six-year-old Loren Arthur Wilson of Battle Creek was found guilty by a jury of his peers of second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony, and lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony. Wilson received the maximum sentence of 25 years on the class B charge, and the 10-year sentence from the class C count is to be served concurrently. The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Sac City Police Department and Sac County Sheriff’s Office into a reported incident of abuse in Sac City on Dec. 26, 2022. Sac County Attorney Ben Smith prosecuted the case. In addition to the prison sentence, Wilson will be required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life. He must serve at least 70 percent of his sentence, or 17.5 years, before he is eligible for parole in 2041.
