CCSD Board Of Education Approves Purchase Of Lock Upgrades At Adams And Fairview Elementary Schools

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education approved the purchase of new doors and locks following a study done by the state of Iowa earlier in the month about school safety. At last week’s work session, school officials presented a safety assessment to the board that was conducted on all district attendance centers. According to Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau, the purchased locks will be installed at Adams and Fairview Elementary Schools.

Berlau says the new locks keep students and staff more protected if a situation occurs.

The bid was awarded to Doors Inc. out of Fort Dodge for a total of $21,926. With the school doing the safety assessment through the state, they are eligible for a $50,000 grant to pay for more security improvements throughout the district. The board is expected to review and approve more modifications at upcoming meetings.
