A Carroll man faces an assault charge in Carroll County District Court for allegedly harassing a woman and her children. According to court records, 41-year-old Johnny Christopher Jones III was booked into the Carroll County jail yesterday (Monday) in connection to an April 12 incident at the intersection of Clark and 10th Streets. A Carroll Police Department affidavit says officers responded to a reported altercation at approximately 4:20 p.m. The victim told law enforcement Jones had tried to get to her while she was in a locked vehicle. Jones was allegedly threatening the woman and beating on the vehicle’s doors and windows in an effort to gain access to the car. He eventually managed to open the door, forcing the victim to climb into the back seat with her children to get away from Jones. He fled the scene before law enforcement arrived but was arrested Monday. As of this (Tuesday) morning, he remains in custody at the jail.
