A Guthrie County charitable organization has chosen a children’s learning center as the recipient of the group’s most recent donation. The 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County gathered in November for their quarterly meeting and selected the Kid Zone Early Learning Center. At the time of the check presentation, $10,000 had been collected, but some last minute donations came in afterwards, bringing the total to $11,100. Kid Zone Early Learning Center is a non-profit organization that aims to provide a safe, educational and developmental facility for childcare. They opened their Guthrie Center location in 2008 and expanded to Adair in 2014. Kid Zone has made recent aesthetic and functional improvements, and Board Member, Shannon Neff-Muell, indicated the money will be used to install security cameras and keyless entry systems. “This is an incredible gift, and we are thrilled to have been selected to receive this donation,” she says. The 10 Squared Women of Guthrie County’s next meeting will be at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21 at the Lake Panorama National Conference Center.
