In the true spirit of Salvation Army Captain, Joseph McFee, the Audubon County Sheriff’s Department has picked up the bells, collected red buckets and distributed them to area businesses. They are now only asking that you do your part in helping them provide funds for disaster relief, emergency situations and even someone’s personal financial difficulty. Ninety percent of the money put into those red kettles will stay in Audubon County, going to friends and neighbors in need. The department started the bell-ringing campaign the Saturday after Thanksgiving in front of the Audubon Food Land, and they will be there every Saturday from now through Dec. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many volunteers pitch in to help this law enforcement agency, but more are still needed. They are looking for volunteers to fill a shift on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and on Dec. 15 from noon to 1 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Those wishing to help in this way can contact the Sheriff’s Office at 712-563-2631. Those wishing to help out in other ways can make donations wherever they see that familiar red kettle.
