Towne Resigns As Public Health Nurse

Public Health Coordinator for Carroll County, Julie Towne, made a special request to meet with Supervisors this week to make an announcement.

Towne said she has been offered the position of Public Health and Home Health Administrator in Hardin County. This, she says, coincides with some opportunities that came available for her husband and a chance to move closer to her hometown in northeast Iowa. Towne thanked the supervisors for their staunch support over the years.

All of the supervisors had high praise for the work Towne has done during her tenure and Beardmore responded by telling Towne that she has been an example of what the Public Health sector needs.

Towne said she believes the supervisors will have the opportunity to have more input on what the position looks like. She also assured them all grant applications and end of fiscal year tasks will be completed before she leaves on July 8, and she will be working to put together manuals to assist the new nurse. The new Public Health Nurse will be hired by the board of health, which routinely meets every other month. Supervisor Dean Schettler, who sits on that board, said he cannot say with certainty, but he assumes they will hold a special meeting to discuss their next steps in recruiting and hiring of a new nurse. The supervisors also asked Towne for a copy of the agreement between public health and St. Anthony Regional Hospital for their review during this time of transition.
