Denison Man Claims $30,000 Lottery Prize With Lucky Second Ticket

A Denison man is celebrating his last-minute decision to purchase a second lottery ticket after claiming a $30,000 prize last week. Fifty-year-old Dan Hanson was purchasing a Red Hot Cash scratch ticket at the Denison Hy-Vee when the cashier asked if he wanted just a single play. He says, “It was the second one that I purchased that was the winner. The gal said, ‘You want just one?’ And I said, ‘Alright, give me the second one.” That first ticket came up blank, but the other won the game’s $30,000 top prize. This is Hanson’s second Iowa Lottery win in the last year. He won a $10,000 promotional prize in March of 2021. He is planning on using some of the winnings on a family vacation to Mexico. Red Hot Cash has overall odds of 1 in 3.75. For more info on the Iowa Lottery and its available games, visit www.ialottery.com.
