WIN Will Utilize $15 Million In Grants For Fiber Optic Services In Carroll, Crawford, Calhoun And Sac Counties And Beyond

Western Iowa Networks (WIN) will be utilizing a $15 million grant from the Empower Rural Iowa Broadband Grant program to add fiber optic network services to areas in Carroll, Calhoun, Crawford, Sac, Fremont, Mills and Pottawattamie Counties. Once completed, the services will be made available to nearly 6,000 homes and businesses in these rural areas. Construction is slated to begin in 2022 and will take about three years with estimated completion in the spring of 2025. “We hear from our customers regularly about how important a reliable and fast internet connection is to their daily lives,” says WIN CEO, Jeff Roiland. “Many folks are relying on their connection for their livelihood and many employers are now requiring certain bandwidth requirements for employment. Making these types of speeds available in these rural areas will not only help the people currently living on acreages or newer housing developments, but also be very beneficial for farmers, providing the bandwidth needed for activities like online trading or auctions,” he adds. WIN will be constructing networks to Nemaha, areas south of Auburn and certain funded areas in Carroll, Glidden, Vail, Denison, Council Bluffs, Treynor and throughout Mills County. They will also completely build out the communities of Nemaha, Halbur, Willey, Roselle, Dedham, Malvern and Hastings with fiber optics. Exact locations can be found on WIN’s fiber optic maps which are included below. Residents and businesses in these areas can sign up for fiber optic services at wwww.westianet.com or by calling 712-775-2946 or toll free at 888-508-2946.
