In a recent Forbes Magazine ranking of the best places to work in Iowa, the state’s largest undergraduate college jumped from number nine in 2020 to the top spot for 2021. Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) President, Rob Denson, says they are very pleased to make the announcement. “Iowa has great companies who work together for the betterment of Iowa and their employees,” he says. “DMACC is proud to be recognized for the hard work of our faculty and staff, all to the benefit of our students and the companies who hire them, and the communities where they live.” The rankings are based on independent, anonymous survey results from a sample of more than 80,000 U.S. employees working for companies that employ at least 500 people. The statistics were compiled and ranked by Forbes and Statista. These were then divided into 51 lists for each of the 50 states plus the District of Columbia. The 2021 Iowa ranking included three higher education institutions: DMACC at number one; Iowa State University, which ranked ninth; and the University of Iowa, ranking 13th.
