New Revenue Estimates And Pending Legislation Could Mean More Money In Iowa Workers’ Pockets

Iowa Gov., Kim Reynolds, says the positive projections presented late Friday by the Revenue Estimating Conference in conjunction with new legislation will lead to more take-home income for Iowans. The Revenue Estimating Conference increased the current year’s estimate to $8.07 billion, which is up to 1.9 percent growth from December’s estimate of a half percent growth over the year. This forecast, Reynolds says reflects a strong Iowa economy. “[…] and we can make it even stronger by ensuring our historic 2018 tax cuts are fully implemented giving Iowans certainty that they’ll see more in their paychecks. We can easily do that by removing the unnecessary triggers, which are no longer needed and only stand in the way of our future growth,” she says. The Iowa Senate has unanimously voted to remove triggers, which include at least four percent in revenue growth before lowering tax brackets. Reynolds adds she is looking forward to signing the final bill to make the cuts a reality.
