ESC Volleyball Remains Unbeaten, Results for Kuemper, Carroll High, Glidden Ralston and South Central Calhoun from Saturday

Carroll At Spencer Tournament

Carroll went 4-1 on Saturday with a pair of wins over West Lyon including in the 3rd place match where the Tigers picked up a 2-0 win. The Tigers had swept through their pool going 3-0 in matches and 6-1 in sets. The only set loss in pool play was 22-20 to West Lyon in the 2nd set. Carroll advanced to the semifinals against Cherokee and fell 2-0 before winning the rematch with West Lyon in the 3rd place match.

Tigers went 8-3 in sets Saturday and improved their overall record to 8-5.

Laura Sweeney had 86 assists with Hannah Jorgensen with 9. Josie Ayala and Ella Collison each had 35 kills, Kennedy Lein finished with 16 and Gabi Hammer added 8. Jorgensen had a team high 28 digs, Josie Ayala 26, Ella Collison 24 and Kenzie Honold gave the Tigers 4 players with more than 20 as she finished with 21. Kennedy Lein and Joise Ayala each had 6 blocks. Sweeney had a team high 5 aces.

East Sac and Kuemper At South Central Calhoun Tournament

East Sac claimed another tournament championship on Saturday going undefeated in matches in Rockwell City. The Raiders picked up hard fought wins over Harlan, Kuemper and Ridge View winning all 3 matches in 3 sets. The Raiders went 4-0 in matches and finished 8-3 in set. Kuemper ended up 3-1 in matches and 7-4 in sets. Kuemper slipped past Harlan (who they host Tuesday) and Ridge View in 3 sets each. The Titans struggled on Saturday losing all 4 matches and going 0-8 in sets. The Raiders are now 14-0, Kuemper 8-5 and South Central Calhoun falls to 7-11.

Bree Boeckman led the Raiders with 24 kills, Bailey Wollesen added 11, Oliva Wernimont and Maty Quirk each had 9 and Abby Scott finished with 8. Quirk had a team high 33 assists, Kayla Meyer added 25. Quirk also had a team high 23 digs with Boeckman adding 19 and Olivia Wernimont had 10. Boeckman and Wernimont finished with 6 blocks and 4 blocks respectively. Laryn Sharp had a team high 4 aces. Raider stats don’t include Harlan match which hadn’t been updated as of the time of posting this update.

Kuemper had 3 players with more than 20 kills with Kamryn Venner and Sophie Badding each with 22 and Kenzie Schon with 20. Frannie Glynn finished with 10 kills. Ashlynn Badding had 83 of the teams 92 assists along with 37 digs. Kenya Prescott had a team high 37 digs and Kenzie Schon finished with 35 digs. Avarie Pedelty had 19 and Venner added 18 digs. Sophie Badding led the team with 7 blocks and Glynn added 5. Ashlynn Badding had 7 of the teams 11 aces.

Kortney Riley and Riley Batta paced the Titans with 9 and 8 kills respectively and Laci Riedesel finished with 7 kills. Sally Musselman led the team with 20 assists, Batta added 10. Emma Geno had a team high 31 digs, Musselman added 18, Kylee Schleisman 15 and Riley had 12. Keira Hammen had a team high 5 blocks, Allie Kirkhart finished with 4. Kortney Riley had 5 aces, Musselman 4 and Geno 3.

Glidden Ralston At Belmond Klemme

Glidden Ralston went 1-1 on the day suffering a tough loss to Hampton Dumont in their first match. The Wildcats were tied at 21 in the 1st set before back to back net violations put them behind and then the set ended with a 2 hit call. Glidden Ralston bounced back with a nice 3 set win over Belmond Klemme including a hard fought 15-13 win in set 3. The Wildcats improved to 3-3 on the season but have to feel like they could be at least 5-1 if it weren’t for unforced errors.

Gretchen Wallace and Morgan Koehler were both in double digits in kills with 15 and 11 respectively. Kim Daily had 40 of the teams 44 assists. Wallace had a team high 8 digs, 2 blocks and tied Daily with 5 aces. Daily and Morgan Koehler each had 6 digs. Tiela Janssen added 5 digs.
