Two passengers suffered serious injuries in an early morning accident involving alcohol Saturday southwest of Grand Junction. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Greene County Emergency Medical Services and Grand Junction Fire and Rescue responded to the scene in the 1900 block of 230th Street at approximately 2:27 a.m. A 17-year-old female from Emmetsburg was driving a 2004 Toyota Corolla when she failed to stop at a t-intersection at T Avenue and 230th Street. The car crossed the roadway and entered the ditch, striking a utility pole and rolling onto the roof. The driver suffered minor injuries but the two passengers were transported to the Greene County Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries. All three were underage and consuming alcohol. The car was totaled. The driver will be charged with first-offense operating while under the influence, failure to obey a stop sign and failure to maintain control. The accident remains under investigation.
