A sold-out crowd of around 600 Iowa Hawkeye fans gathered Monday evening at the Arcadia Legion Hall for the Carroll Area I-Club’s annual banquet, which featured a lineup of prominent figures connected to the University of Iowa (UI) Athletics Department. Among the featured guests were athletic director Beth Goetz, head football coach Kirk Ferentz, men’s basketball coach Ben McCollum, women’s basketball coach Jan Jensen, wrestling coach Tom Brands, and longtime Hawkeye radio broadcaster Gary Dolphin. Doors opened at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour, followed by dinner catered by Lidderdale Country Store at 6:30 p.m. The evening program began at 7:30 p.m. The Carroll Area I-Club has been recognized multiple times as one of the top Hawkeye fan groups in the I-Club network, as evidenced by Monday’s attendance. Awards and scholarships were also presented to fans, including Meredith Sturm of Breda and Olivia Greving of Manning. Brekan Prussing of Denison was named Junior Hawk of the Year, while Mark Remsburg of Audubon and Chris Nieland of Breda were named Hawks of the Year.
