Carroll County Democrats To Host Town Hall With WolfTornabane, Owen Friday In Carroll

The Carroll County Democrats are hosting a town hall tomorrow (Friday) evening with two candidates who will appear on the party’s June 2 primary ballot. The approximately 90-minute event begins at 6:00 p.m. in the 1730 Tap House in the Carrollton Inn. It features Ashley WolfTornabane, a Storm Lake mother seeking the Democratic congressional nomination for Iowa’s 4th District. WolfTornabane’s two Democratic challengers, former State Rep. Dave Dawson of Lawton, and retired nurse Stephanie Steiner of Sutherland, are not slated to appear at Friday’s town hall. The other candidate on Friday’s docket is Bill Owen, a retired rural Shelby County resident who is the only candidate filed to run in the Iowa House District 11 Democratic Primary. Owen began his career at a beef packing plant before transitioning to an ag chemical company. He later taught skilled trades at Metropolitan Community College (MCC) in Omaha, Neb., before becoming the Dean of Applied Technology at the school. The nominee for the District 4 race will face off against Chris McGowan, who is the GOP’s presumptive candidate, and Owen will appear on the ballot against the incumbent Iowa House District 11 representative, Craig Williams (R-Manning).
