The Lake View Library Board invites all to the third Lake View Speaker Series this upcoming Saturday, to hear from a former NASA Chief Astronaut. Organizer and sponsor of the Lake View Speaker Series, Dr. Jon Quinn says this will be the last speaker series of the “winter” season, before Lake View gets busy with summer time festivities. Quinn says this weekend, they will be welcoming Capt. Robert “Hoot” Gibson to Lake View.
Gibson was given the nickname Hoot because of his surname, after a popular western movie star and rodeo rider, Edmund “Hoot” Gibson between the 1920’s and 1940’s. Quinn says Gibson was known for being an adventurous and daring pilot.
Quinn invites everyone out to the Lake View Speaker Series to hear the story of Gibson starting at 2 p.m. this Saturday at the Lake View Community Center. The event is free and open to the public.
