Iowa Fuel Report: March 25, 2026

Iowans saw some relief this week at the gas pump, but not much, according to the latest fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, March 25, the statewide average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.31, four cents below last week’s average but 30 cents above prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday was up 14 cents to $3.98 per gallon. In retail diesel, the statewide average continued its sharp upward trend, rising 22 cents to $4.85 per gallon, up from $3.33 in March 2025. Iowa diesel prices are $1.48 below the national average, at $6.33 per gallon. At the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was $2.49, Unleaded 87 was $2.90, ULSD#2 was $3.56, ULSD#1 was $3.89, and E70 was $2.28. As for heating fuels, propane prices were unchanged at $1.62 per gallon, while home heating oil jumped 33 cents to $4.36 per gallon. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were down 11 cents to $2.93 per MMBtu.
