The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education held two public hearings, reviewing the next steps for the district’s master facilities plan, summer projects and more on Wednesday night. No public comments were made during the two public hearings on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 proposed property tax rate and the 2026-27 school calendar. Later in the meeting the board approved to not move forward with the calendar for the early dismissals every Friday after receiving community/parent feedback, and moving forward with the certified budget that will adjust the proposed property tax rate to $9.56223 per $1,000 of assessed taxable valuation, a decrease of approximately .37 cents. DLR Architect presented the next steps in a proposed grade configuration, which the district prefers an addition to the high school for 7-8 grade, and renovating the middle school for grades 3-6 to be able to retire the Adams building. Funding options were also discussed but no decisions were made at this time. An agreement with Carroll Education Association (CEA) on increasing the base wage to $50,500 for teachers, with tier levels for education. The board approved of paying half of the proposed project for renovations and new equipment purchases to the high school weight room, along with eight projects that will be completed during the summer from a interior wall at Fairview Elementary for the new behavior program, new slide for the Fairview playground and roof bid for the Carroll Middle School. A discussion was held in regards to the district offering a three-year-old preschool program, and a survey will be sent out to parents to discover if there is a need for it in the community. The meeting ended with budget updates and a routine closed session for a superintendent evaluation.
